A medical doctor from India, I have been making my home in the USA for the past 4 years. For the past 8 years, first in India and now in America, I have given my all to my special passion for Ophthalmology.  I am a woman and a physician who could not be more dedicated to Ophthalmology, having long held special affection for the eye, sight, the joy and fullness of vision. Thus, I have spent my free time reading in this area for many years and I now hope very much to put it all to very good use upon being selected for a residency position in Ophthalmology. I seek a full immersion in Ophthalmology for the balance of my professional life as both a clinician and a researcher. It would be a special honor for me to be selected to serve at a major, university-affiliated hospital.

Growing up in the Ukraine, the plight of the blind struck my soul from a very young age. I can remember how I would feel a slight tingling in my spine each time I encountered a visually impaired person. In my humble opinion, of all non-terminal disabilities or ailments, losing one’s ability to see is among the worst. Now that I have finished medical school here in Canada, I have decided to pursue a specialization in Ophthalmology because of my passion for eyesight and my dedication to this area in my own personal research and investigation.

This organization is one of the mission wings of the Christian and Medical Dental Society. They support short-term mission trips to many countries each year. GHO might be perfect for ophthalmologists who have other medical providers in their family and wish to go on the same mission trip together. They aim to motivate, educate, and equip Christian physicians and dentists to glorify God by: living out the character of Christ in their homes, practices, communities and around the world; pursuing professional competence and Christ-like compassion in their daily work; influencing their families, colleagues, and patients toward a right relationship with Jesus Christ; advancing Biblical principles in bioethics and health to the Church and society. Benevolent Missions International

Benevolent Missions International (BMI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing ophthalmic care to the underserved around the world. Over 1500 volunteers have worked together contributing their time, energy, money and expertise to bring critical medical care to those in need.

More than 40,000 adults and children have received care from BMI in areas around the world where eye care was previously not affordable. Over 100 mission trips have been made to Africa, Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Fiji. The organization provides healthcare education and medical/surgical clinics by: recruiting volunteer healthcare professionals and lay personnel; providing cost free healthcare services and essential equipment and supplies; educating local healthcare workers to medically care for their people and equipping mission sites with educational materials for on-going training. The goal is to ultimately develop each site into a self-sufficient mission with well-equipped healthcare facilities, and local medical personnel and volunteers. EyeCare Wecare Foundation, Inc.

EyeCare WeCare Foundation, Inc. is a Christian-centered, public foundation that targets the rural poor in the Philippines. It provides the indigents with vision examinations, provides donated, prescription eyeglasses, needed eye medications and eye surgeries performed by Resources for the Blind. The foundation utilizes a mobile vision clinic which can be ferried to many of the 7,107 islands and then driven to more remote areas. The foundation plans to raise funds to build a second mobile clinic that will be utilized for eye surgeries that would be able to follow up behind the mobile vision clinic. It will help identify which patients need cataract and pterygium surgeries. EyeCare WeCare Foundation has no paid staff and is a 100% volunteer organization. Check out this site for more info.
